STUDIO POLICY by Laurel Gibson
First of
all, I LOVE TEACHING! It's great that God gave me something
that I can share with anyone who wants to learn...Music is one of
the greatest gifts we can enjoy, and everyone benefits from Music
Lessons. The student learns cooperation, coordination, builds
self-esteem, motor skills, a sense of accomplishment,
responsibility, left and right-brain crossover, concentration,
memory, and then there's the MUSIC! We learn history, social
studies, math, reading, problem solving, foreign language,
performance in front of others, relaxation techniques, and
APPRECIATION.
In order for all this to be accomplished, we must
have a real commitment to ATTENDANCE. I know that everyone
gets sick, or we all get to take a trip once in a while. We
carry such a full schedule that it is sometimes impossible to find a
spot for either of us to do a make-up lesson - although we
try. That's why I'm so happy to have our Workshops and
Recitals . This gives every
student a chance to re-enforce the lessons they have alread had,
and cover materials that aren't always found in their lesson
books. Workshops are included in your monthly lesson fee, and count as
2 make-up lessons, as they are twice as long. You can also bring
a friend or sibling for a $5 fee.
There will
be Recitals, Workshops, Music Camps, Music Parties, Contests,
Competitions, and opportunities to sing and play for your
church or school, not to mention family functions. All tuition, Instrument Rental, and Materials and
Lab fees should be paid in advance by the first lesson of each
month . Monthly fees will include any "5th"
lesson, free. Music books or sheets should be included in the
next month's check. It can really add up with 50 students
getting Christmas books, for example! I do keep records of
attendance, and payments, but have been known to make a mistake once
in a while...I appreciate your candid comments and opinions.

Talent Development Ensembles include:
Symphony of Praise (youth symphony), Created to
Praise (praise
band), Heavenly Harps (beginners), Hallelujah
Harps (intermediate), Keys of the Kingdom (keyboard ensembles) and Rhythm 'n
Bells. For a fee of $25 a
month, each student may participate in as many of our ensemble groups as
they are qualified for. All Recital Ensembles are free
of charge, and participation is required and included in your lesson
plans.
Annual
Registration $25 yearly - includes
our workshops, recitals, computer programs,
headphones, accompaniment CDs, and discs,
microphones, amplifiers, materials fee, etc.
Summer Camps have a separate $25 materials
fee per month.
